Wedding Guidelines
Congratulations on your engagement and decision to prepare for a lifelong Catholic marriage! We, the staff, and community of St. Augustine Cathedral, look forward to preparing you for the Sacrament of Marriage. Please allow a minimum of (six months) for marriage preparation.
We want to help you plan a wedding ceremony that is spiritual and sacramental. We have prepared these guidelines and ask that you follow them.
WEDDING PRELIMINARY INFORMATION FORM:
You will need to download and fill out our Wedding Preliminary Info Form and return the form to our office. This form must be completed and submitted to the Cathedral office at least 6 months prior to your wedding date. The Rector approves and assigns the priest for every wedding in this parish. Once we receive the form and the deposit, we can schedule your wedding date.
SCHEDULING THE DATE AND TIME:
Upon review, the Rector approves the requested date and time. A meeting will be scheduled by the assigned priest to do the required paperwork, go over the necessary documents, guidelines, set a rehearsal date and time and instruct you on the total process.
COST: $1,000.00 for the Cathedral Church. $ 700.00 for Our Lady’s Chapel.
- To reserve the date, you must pay a non-refundable $250.00 deposit, which will be included in your wedding fee.
- The wedding fee must be paid IN FULL ONE MONTH prior to your scheduled wedding rehearsal date.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION CLASS
The couple must register and attend a marriage preparation class or retreat before the wedding ceremony.
MARRIAGE LICENSE
The couple is responsible for procuring their marriage license and turning it in one month before the wedding. Failure to present a valid marriage license will cancel the wedding.
DAYS/TIMES FOR WEDDINGS:
- Fridays: 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m.
- Saturdays: 10 a.m., 12 Noon, 2 p.m.
ATTENDANTS:
We ask that you be reasonable with the number of couples in your wedding party (not including the bride, groom, and their parents).
FLOWERS AND DECORATIONS:
Arrangements can be placed near the altar on the Sanctuary. Flower arrangements can also be placed on the pews but may not be pinned or taped to the pews. Aisle runners ARE NOT permitted. TO AVOID ACCIDENTS - ABSOLUTELY NO RICE, FLOWER PETALS, BUBBLES, ETC., MAY BE USED INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE CATHEDRAL CHURCH, OUR LADY'S CHAPEL, OR CATHEDRAL GROUNDS.
MUSIC:
Music must be arranged by the bride and groom and communicated to our music director, Carlos Zapien (520) 427-4514. The fee for our Music Director is $300.00 and must be paid to the Cathedral Office prior to the Wedding Ceremony. We also provide a list of some local Mariachis that you may contact for your wedding ceremony. Please Note: Carlos is the only one to play in the Chapel.
PUNCTUALITY: WEDDINGS MUST START ON TIME!
It is important to be aware of the time constraints that the Church has in scheduling Weddings, Masses, and other liturgical celebrations. The late start of a wedding can seriously affect services scheduled after your Wedding. If you are late, this will result in the priest OMITTING parts of your ceremony so that the Church will be available and on time for the next Wedding, Mass, or other liturgical celebration. To avoid these problems, we ask that you adhere strictly to the guidelines. Any lack of abiding by these guidelines may also result in an immediate cancelation of the wedding ceremony.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATES NEEDED:
- Baptism certificate dated within 6 months of the wedding – We will keep this original
- Copy of First Holy Communion Certificate
- Copy of Confirmation Certificate
NOTE:
Any other questions that you may have can be answered by the Rector, or by a Parochial Vicar, at 623-6351 x117.
