Due to substantial spikes in Covid-19 virus transmission, along with substantially increased critical hospital census numbers the Office of the Bishop of the Diocese of Tucson has issued new changes to our protocols for public worship and church operation.
FUNERALS AND WEDDINGS
Funerals, weddings, quinceaneras and baptisms are limited to a maximum of 200 persons. No gatherings before or following these celebrations are allowed on parish or church property.
Those persons identified in the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines as “high risk” are strongly encouraged to receive the Church’s ministry mediated through the internet while remaining at home. This caution is greatly lessened after such persons have been able to receive a Covid-19 vaccination.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation. Pope Francis has encouraged us to build a culture of care on this new year 2021 while maintaining our eyes intently on Jesus Christ. Let us care for one another and place our trust entirely on the Lord.
Fr. Alan Valencia, Rector
Congratulations on your engagement and decision to prepare for a lifelong Catholic marriage! We, the staff and community of St. Augustine Cathedral, look forward to preparing you for the Sacrament of Marriage. Please allow a minimum of (six months) for marriage preparation.
We want to help you plan a wedding ceremony that is spiritual and sacramental. We have prepared these guidelines and ask that you follow them.
WEDDING PRELIMINARY INFORMATION FORM:
You will need to download and fill out our Wedding Preliminary Info Form and return the form to our office. This form must be filled out and submitted to the Cathedral office at least 6 months prior to your wedding date. The Rector approves and assigns the priest for every wedding in this parish.
SCHEDULING THE DATE AND TIME:
Only the assigned priest can schedule the date and the and time for the wedding and rehearsal. A meeting is scheduled by the assigned priest to do the required paperwork, go over the necessary documents, guidelines and instruct you on the total process.
- You must pay a non-refundable $200.00 deposit (preferably in cash), which will be included in your wedding fee at the time of your first meeting with a priest.
- The wedding fee must be paid IN FULL ONE MONTH (preferably in cash) prior to your scheduled wedding rehearsal date.
MARRIAGE PREPARATION CLASS
You must register and attend a marriage preparation class before your wedding.
The couple is responsible for procuring their marriage license and turning it in one month before the wedding. Failure to present a valid marriage license will cancel the wedding.
DAYS/TIMES FOR WEDDINGS:
- Fridays: 2 p.m., 4 p.m., 6 p.m.
- Saturdays: 10:30 a.m., 12 Noon, 2 p.m.
Only 6 couples are allowed (not including the bride, groom, and their parents).
FLOWERS AND DECORATIONS:
Two arrangements can be placed near the altar on the Sanctuary. Aisle runners are not permitted. ABSOLUTELY NO RICE, FLOWER PETALS, BUBBLES, ETC., MAY BE USED INSIDE OR OUTSIDE THE CATHEDRAL OR CATHEDRAL GROUNDS.
Must be arranged by the bride and groom. We have a list of organists and Mariachis that you may contact for your wedding ceremony.
PUNCTUALITY: WEDDINGS MUST START ON TIME!
It is important to be aware of the time constraints that the Church has in scheduling Weddings, Masses and other liturgical celebrations. The late beginning of a wedding can seriously affect services scheduled after your Wedding. If you are late, this will result in the priest OMITTING parts of your ceremony so that the Church will be available and on time for the next Wedding, Mass or other liturgical celebration. To avoid these problems we ask that you adhere strictly to the guidelines.
NOTE: Any other questions that you may have can be answered by the Rector, or by a Parochial Vicar, at 623-6351 x117.
