NEW PROTOCOLS FOR ST AUGUSTINE
In light of many people receiving a Covid-19 vaccine, the CDC (Center for Disease Control) has recently issued new recommendations on the usage of facemasks and social distancing. The use of facemasks and social distancing are no longer required for those that have been vaccinated. Therefore, as of May 22/23, 2021 our protocols will change to the following:
Facemasks are no longer required at liturgical celebrations, although still recommended, especially for those who have not yet received their vaccine.
Social distancing is no longer required in our celebrations. All the pews in our church building will be open and available.
RECEPTION OF HOLY COMMUNION
The option of reception of Holy Communion either on the hand or on the tongue is restored for everyone.
ONE MASS WITH PROTOCOLS
The 5:30pm Saturday Vigil Mass will remain the only weekend Mass with our current protocols, available for those who are vulnerable or for those who have not yet received their vaccine.
All these changes are thanks to those that have been vaccinated. This allows us to take a few steps forward in lessening out protocols. Having said this, I want to point out that this lessening of the protocols also serves to encourage those that have not received the vaccine to do so as soon as possible.
